New Pollinator garden at 56th St. Promenade

In early June, work began on a major project to transform the area behind the “Mini-Great Lawn” between 56th and 57th Streets into a Pollinator Garden. In partnership with Dan Hunter and his team at Trillium Landscape Design, we are creating a garden centered on native plants that support pollinators in the Northeast.

The planting plan will provide nectar, pollen, habitat, and seasonal interest for butterflies, bees, and other beneficial insects throughout the growing season. The Pollinator Garden is designed to increase biodiversity, build ecological resilience, and support long-term sustainability in the park and surrounding Midtown area. We are grateful to the Greenacre Foundation and a private donor for funding the new garden.
