Community volunteers, including students from the Cathedral High School and Evangelical Christian School, staffers from TD Bank and neighbors, planted a thousand bulbs in the new promenade area between the parks at 56th and 57th streets on It's My Park Day, a cold and windy Saturday, November 9. New Yorkers for Parks provided daffodil bulbs and the Conservancy added other varieties, all organized by Flo Kelly, Jane Havemeyer and Jill Bauer. Sandy Roth from A la Mode provided arts and crafts to entertain the toddlers. Council member Ben Kallos came to enjoy the fabulous view from the new promenade that he and other elected officials had fought for over many years. Now we have to wait until the spring to enjoy the flowers in bloom.
