Sutton Place Parks Conservancy invites friends and neighbors of all ages to join in celebrating the opening of the parks between 56 Street and 57 Street, along the East River. Finally, after many years of discussion and construction the two parks are now joined by a welcome new park promenade that runs between them with a spectacular view over the River.

The east midtown area is noted for being bereft of open space. Now this park area is a start at providing respite for workers and families on the east side of Manhattan. The Parks Department finally opened the parks in mid-August with more still to be done.

No date has been set for a ribbon cutting ceremony, but the Conservancy, partnering with the Parks Department and Sutton Area Community, is planning a joyful  celebration with games for children, yoga, music, and much more. City Councilman Ben Kallos and other city leaders will be on hand to greet park goers.

Where: Enter at the cul-de-sac on east 57 street or at 56 street, Sutton Place South

The mission of the Sutton Place Parks Conservancy is to restore, beautify and enhance our six neighborhood parks from East 53rd Street to East 58th Street along Sutton Place and Sutton Place South in Manhattan. We water the plants, weed the gardens and make sure our parks are safe and clean. Partnering with the New York City Parks Department and local community organizations on shared goals, we highlight environmental best practices and strive to enhance our parks for the enjoyment of neighbors and visitors.
